Why are rainforests so important to protect?
Rainforests are not only a place to see nature and all its beauty, it is a place with broad biodiversity.
While rainforests may seem like a distant concern, these ecosystems are critically important for our well-being.
Definition:
Biodiversity is the variety of life on Earth including all species of plants, animals and micro-organisms and the ecosystems within which they live and interact.
Ecosystem is a community of plants, animals and smaller organisms that live, feed, reproduce and interact in the same area or environment.
We need the rainforests because they provide many things that allow us to live. These include food resources and medicines, but most importantly, oxygen supplies.
Rainforests rely on the different plants and animals as much as we rely on rainforests. We are all connected and the more habitats that are destroyed and animals we lose the greater the negative ripple effects will be on the environment as a whole.
